Bob Morus founded and serves as President and Director of Winegrowing for Phelps Creek Vineyards. He moved to Hood River in 1989 with the expressed goal of raising both wine grapes and kids. Today, his children are all grown up and the established estate vineyard consists of 34 acres of breathtaking vines.
When not tending the vines or overseeing all production aspects, Bob spends his time commanding a Boeing 777 in international operations for a major airline.

Alexandrine Roy joined us from Burgundy, France as Director of Winemaking. The fourth generation Vigneron continually amazes our team with her timeless techniques steeped in tradition.
Originally brought in to produce a special cuvée from our estate Pinot Noir, her role has expanded to contributions that reflect in all of our enchanting wines.
The Cellar/Vineyard Manager
Irineo Magana has been our Manager of Vineyard Operations for over 20 years. He believes that the quality of wine in the bottle first begins with the hours of hard work in the field.
His commitment to quality grape production stems from personal pride in witnessing the vineyards developments transforming wines that truly reflect the beauty of the land. He coordinates a team of three brothers and numerous other workers in the field to make this magic happen.
Irineo was awarded Vineyard Excellence Award in 2016 from Oregon Wine Board.
A graduate of UC Davis's Wine program, Bill Swain moved his family to the Columbia Gorge over 30 years ago, seeking the perfect place to start his own winery. He and Bob "kicked the dirt" on Phelps Creek Vineyard's estate long before the land was purchased.
His vast winemaking experience flowed through positions crafting wine in California, Oregon,Venezuela, Virginia and Washington. Bill returned to the Gorge in a dual role as our resident Enologist and Grandfather to his own clan.
Ira Kreft joined our team in 2010. He assists Alexandrine Roy and Bill Swain by bringing an appreciation for traditional winemaking practices as well as New World technology. He enjoys nurturing the native yeast essential to Phelps Creek's unique expression of terroir.
Earning his Certificate in Winemaking from U.C. Davis, Ira maintains a strong commitment to continuing education. Prior to joining our team he volunteered with many other wineries in both Michigan and Oregon.

Red Walczak is the newest member to join our Phelps Creek family! She came to us as a small-town girl from Michigan with a big heart and an even bigger passion for wine.
Recently graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Criminal Justice, Red made the unparalleled decision to drop everything and instead follow her dream to pursue a career in the world of wine. She loves to leave her mark on every aspect of the vineyard, whether she is sharing the story in the vines or greeting everyone with a warm smile in our Tasting Room.
Thank you to a great season with mara and wes! we look forward to hosting you again next year!
Mara Sleeter came to us in May from Portland, where she

& Clark College. She works directly with the Queen
Bee (otherwise known as Lynette) in marketing and business, as well as co-leading the Ultimate Wine Country Experience tours. In her time off, Mara enjoys hiking the Gorge, as well as attempting to coax the Queen into joining her for yoga. She hopes to see you come along on one of her tours later in the summer!
Wesley Yu, known around here as Wes, has become Phelps Creek “casual." Wes’s developing interest with wine stems from a worldly, multicultural upbringing. He spent 7 years abroad in Shanghai after a childhood spent in Los Angeles. His palate and exploration with the world of wine blends with an exposure to various cultures and cuisines around the world. Wes finds it fascinating how almost all cultures find some way to incorporate wine, alcohol, or other fermented beverages into their cuisine. After a hard week under Lynette's “wing”, you might even find a single malt whiskey in his glass. Coming to us from Oregon State’s BioResource Research program, in the College of Agriculture, Wes is eager for Bill’s mentoring in the science and art of winemaking.
