Bob Morus founded and serves as President and Director of Winegrowing for Phelps Creek Vineyards. He moved to Hood River in 1989 with the expressed goal of raising wine grapes and kids. Today, the established estate vineyard consists of 32 acres with the breathtaking views from all rows of the vines.
When not tending the vines or overseeing all production aspects, Bob commands a Boeing 777 in international operations for a major airline.

Alexandrine Roy joins us from Burgundy, France as Director of Winemaking. The fourth generation vigneron continually amazes our team with techniques steeped in tradition.
Originally tagged to produce a special cuvee from our estate Pinot Noir, her role has expanded to contributions on all aspects of PCV crush.

Irineo Magana has been our Manager of Vineyard Operations for over 20 years.
The quality in the bottle begins with hours of hard work in the field. Irineo's commitment to quality grape production grows from personal pride in witnessing vineyards developing from cuttings to wines. He coordinates the efforts of three brothers and numerous other workers in the field and winery.
Irineo was awarded Vineyard Excellence Award in 2016 from Oregon Wine Board.
A graduate of UC Davis's Wine program in its early years, Bill Swain moved his family to the Columbia Gorge over 30 years ago, seeking the perfect place to start his own winery. He and Bob "kicked the dirt" on Phelps Creek's estate vineyard before the land was purchased.
His vast winemaking experience flows through positions crafting wine in California, Oregon,Venezuela, Virginia and Washington. Bill returns to the Gorge in a dual role as our resident Enologist and Grandpa to his growing clan.
Ira Kreft joined the team in 2010. He assists Alexandrine Roy and Bill Swain, bringing an appreciation for both traditional winemaking practices and New World technology He enjoys nurturing the native yeast essential to Phelps Creek's unique expression of terroir. Earning his Certificate in Winemaking from U.C. Davis, Ira maintains a strong commitment to continuing education. Prior to joining our team, he volunteered with other wineries in Michigan and Oregon.

Lynette Barss-Morus began her journey to Phelps Creek through a serendipitous visit to a Hong Kong wine bar. Unexpectedly, Lynette had ventured into the layover lair of Bob and his co-pilot. Aiming to impress the cute Canadian lass forced into sitting within close proximity, Bob ordered a bottle of New Zealand Pinot Noir, expounding upon the virtues of the grape and its famous, movie star vintner.
Lynette spent 12 years in Asia giving marketing support for medical imaging equipment throughout the Pacific Rim. While overseas, she attended Hong Kong's prestigious WSET Academy (Wine and Spirits Educational Trust), earning Level III certification.

John Boots joins us from the Information Technology industry, where he spent 25 years driving a computer and managing a startup team. Embracing an opportunity for change, John decided to pursue his long-term love affair with wine. Building a foundation with WSET Level II (Wine and Spirits Educational Trust) certification and travel to the wine regions of Europe, John looks forward to continue his oenological immersion with us here at Phelps Creek Vineyards.

Nikki Morris - Reade is an Oregon native with roots in Bend. After a short 15 month stay in Denver, Nikki and her family returned to the Pacific Northwest to enjoy small town life and closeness of family. Loving everything outdoors, Nikki's especially enjoys her garden during the summer. Nikki's results orientated personality peaked our attention and she joins Phelps Creek Vineyards as Operations Coordinator. With a developing passion for wine, Nikki has begun her Level II WSET (Wine and Spirits Educational Trust) certification. We look forward to witnessing her growth and development in the wine industry.

Last Summer Vineyard Ambassadors
Eddie Valadao and Nicole Henderson join us for the summer as Vineyard Ambassadors.
Eddie comes to us from his family's dairy farm operation in California's lower Central Valley. He attends Fresno State in its winemaking program. Raised on a farm, he's an early riser and hard worker. He's been put to work in the lab, bottling, planting and tractor repair. Eddy is also a drone aficionado. Don't be surprised to be in a few event pictures from an aerial perspective.
Our second summer intern Nicole Henderson arrives shortly. She is attending UC Davis, but is not yet enrolled in their winemaking program. Bill Swain, our resident wine consultant will be poised to convert her from Food Science to the famous Enology program at his alma mater.
